Historic towns are few and far between in Denmark. We visited one before riding over the border into Germany. The town of Ribe, dating from medieval times, lies on the west coast. To reach it, we rode over from the east coast and stayed there a night before heading along the coast the following day – following the North Sea trail.
These are black and white photos taken off Ribe just after the war. A different place then ….and one I’m inclined to think would have been enormously interesting to have experienced. One thing’s for sure, you won’t see any storks on the streets today; in a world of rapidly declining bio-diversity, what price ‘progress’?
Does anyone ever consider the balance of losses and gains?
